Post Jam Plan
I have chosen to continue developing this project, and wanted to publish a plan of attack. The following is my tentative plan.
1. Fix all the problems with my GMTK 2020 Submission
I received a lot of positive feedback about this game, but of course there was also a lot of helpful critique. The main problems as identified by the comments were
- Controls, unresponsive, confusing, slow, unintuitive
- Visual feedback, no explosions, lacking sound effects, lack of weight
To address this I am basically remaking the entire game from the ground up and focusing on the primary game play loop and these flaws. I will continue to update this project page with updates as soon as a feature complete version is ready, and then continuously as I add more polish after that
2. Get feedback
I need more feedback! I consider play testing and gameplay tweaking to be my largest challenge, and would appreciate any comments on this game. Getting specific feedback that can inform changes is invaluable.
3. Make a new game
The framing device and visual theme of this game were fine with me during the Jam, but it is not something I am interested in developing further. After I have finished polishing up the original concept, I will be making a game of a completely different theme with the same core gameplay. I hope this his will lead to a more interesting game to play and to make.
